It has been a busy two weeks trying to get settled. I am loving the life and the environment here, no more feeling of restriction though i am trying not to get carried away by the freedom i am allowed now.

Beer is certainly cheaper than water here and so is a good bottle of wine. I have been drinking almost every other week with mates in pubs, clubs or even while watching a movie in their Botanic Gardens. Things i would never have the chance of doing back home.

Most of the locals and foreign students i met here have been quite nice, though some can be a bit looney at times. Imagine having breakfast at a nice idyllic cafe by the roadside and this guy just drives up to greet you Good Morning. Or some guy just walking along the street shouting "Peace to all" and waving and flashing you the thumbs up sign. Either they are all high on drugs or they are simply too carefree here.

The only thing i havent gotten used to is the pace of life here and the ever changing weather.

I called and emailed in advance about setting up an internet service and phone line for my apartment two weeks before i arrived so imagine the agony and anger at waiting for another two whole weeks for them to really fix everything up.

Weather here is a fickle minded young lady. Although it is considered Autumn now, it can still be as hot as summer or as absurbly cold as winter. It is common to experience cold winds, a clear cloudless sky with the unrelenting sun bearing down on you, a sudden downpour all within ten minutes. Vivaldi's classical piece of "Four Seasons" would be an apt selection for this city.

School has started for me this week and it is certainly fun to be mingling around with students once again after almost a decade's break of studying. About 3/4 of my whole course is filled with chicks so going to class can be quite motivating. It is also refreshing to be around people younger than you and listening to all those crazy ideas that you once had when you were young or just talking to them.
