Back

Actually i am back for two days now and somehow i think i am in love with Melbourne.

It is a really nice city. I love the mix of old victorian buildings and modern architectures. The melting pot of cultures, arts and food is another big draw. In fact, i feel at home there since there is a large Asian population around the city area.

Only drawback is the fickle minded weather and the high prices there. Still i am not complaning since there is a downside to everything. Dining there might be pricey, but the portions are big and it is value for money. Also the customer service there is great. Be it a restaurant or a shop that you are just browsing through, the aussies will always greet you and ask if they can help you. Best part of the customer service? There is no service tax and you are not required to tip them. Compared to here, customer service is certainly miles apart.

It's true that the Aussies might be a little racist, then again which one of us isn't? I didn't experience racism there and a friend who has been there for almost five years mentioned that racism in Melbourne is at best, mild. Reason being is Melbourne is the city with the largest mix of nationalities and the Aussies are probably used to it.

In fact, i made a new friend on the flight there. This Aussie guy is the VP of some company there and he was on his way back home after a successful deal in Sri Lanka. Throughout the flight, he was talking to me about almost everything under the sun and was recommending me places to visit in Melbourne. On my second day in Melbourne, he asked his assistant to show and drive me around the city and we ended up drinking in a bar that was run by his friend at the end of the day. I really appreciate his effort and i could feel the warmness from him. Perhaps this is their culture and way of doing things.

Still, because of all the talking with this aussie guy, i couldnt do much with M on board the plane save for some fingering. Then again, i think we had our fair share of fun over there. Sigh, another week till she flies off again and somehow, I am hating it.
